Unit 6 Feedback

Hello Kaela,      Your website section is so cute I love the color scheme you ladies have going on! I think your introduction was great and I agree that we as a generation we were trying to stop with smart devices and yet here comes technology to take over and "improve" the way we learn. I think it would have been really interesting for you to put a little static of the technology use increase, in your age range, for schools. Just something that might stand out to parents that might be reading the site. I got a little lost when I was looking at your "E-Health Programs," I know there have been the bugs with people losing site information, but I think having a small few sentences to explain the purpose of that section would help the reader. I think the "Health Foods" video is great though but my favorite video was the animated one. I like how he says nothing and yet I find myself talking for him in my own head! So adorable and very relatable. Lastly, I thi...

Hi Kaela, I really enjoyed reading through your website this week. I found it interesting that in middle childhood that kiddos feels anxiety. I have a niece in this age group right now and after reading your website section, I am going to try some of the suggested yoga poses with her to see how she reacts. I feel that your website was clear and easy to follow. Your font for the titles were easy to understand what I was about to read. The first video that was shown on the website about mindful meditation was a great video for kids. I can see my niece watching that video. The only grammatical mistake I found was in the second paragraph, I believe that "have" should be removed, it clogs up the sentence. I do see one other disadvantage that is not listed for using yoga with children and that could be very religious parents. I grew up with religious parents and I know that yoga would not have been an option because some religions can feel that it is going against their beliefs...

Hi Kaela and Heaven, I think you did a really nice job providing concise information on ADHD and the overview of pharmaceutical advantages/disadvantages to its use in young girls.  As someone who has a strong prevalence of ADD/ADHD diagnosis in my family tree, myself include, I find this topic truly fascinating. Particularly, as a female identified as having ADHD not until my late adolescent period, it makes me curious as to whether or not the statistics are missing a vital piece of information, maybe girls learn to adapt and self regulate better than their male counterparts earlier in life?  I’m curious if you found any longitudinal studies on the efficacy/impact on neuro-development or hormonal function when the developing brain is provided with amphetamines or methylphenidates such as Ritalin, Adderall, or Concerta?  This is particularly curious when considering how different the pharmacokinetics is in the female body.   I watched...

Hi Kaela and Heaven, I thought your site was very good and I am glad that your group decided to touch on this very controversial topic of ADHD. I have experienced this first hand with both my children.  I was pleased to see that all four basic elements were addressed and labeled clearly from common conditions, conventional treatment, advantages, and disadvantages along with some elaboration of the side effects in the advantages and disadvantages sections. All the basic elements were very well organized and clear for the readers to follow, and the information was easy to track if the reader decided to later further their research on this topic with the links you provided. I did find a few grammatical and punctuation errors with some suggested corrections as followed: Under the title  Common conditions in the first paragraph, associated could be changed to associated with adhd  changed to ADHD Capital letters used for  adhd  to ADHD ...

Kaela and Heaven: First off, you guys did a great job at covering all of the topics required this Unit. I especially enjoyed the videos you chose to go with your sections, I think they did a great job of driving the point home for each section they corresponded with. I think the Michelle Obama was especially infuriating! Money is the reason why adults have issues with healthier school lunches?! That makes me so sad because I think it is so important that children are exposed to healthy meal choices as early as possible to lay the foundation for healthy eating habits. We are so concerned about rising healthcare costs when there is so much we can do to prevent some of them, yet we don't! Very good thought provoking video. I do think you could have expanded on a couple more of your sections and added some images to go with each! I think you only just scratched the surface on some, merely stating facts and percentages when you could have elaborated a little bit on them and maybe fo...

I chose to review the psychosocial section of the late adolescence age group. I found the bulleted statements easy to intake. The three sections are clearly labeled. I appreciated the strength of the in-text citations and the quality of the writing in the statements. Sometimes the thought seemed disjointed, however. The most interesting topic for me was the transition period from high to school to college and that the risks of psychosocial struggles here are high. I felt that this could have been expanded into many more directions of thought. Another strong point was the fact that cortisol levels present in women differently than in men. This is an important idea in many stages and considerations. This is related to stress and emotional responses as well as physical manifestations. Disordered eating seemed to be a large focus of this blog. While an important consideration, I'm not sure there aren't other conditions just as worrisome to this age group. However, this was ...

Feedback Unit 2

Hi Kaela, Thank you for your work on the website section, Middle Childhood. Overall, I think your website section looks great and is easy to understand. All four topic areas are addressed. I see where you combined the social and emotional section. I do understand why you did that as both are so closely related. I personally felt like psychological, social, and emotional factors were all so interrelated that it was difficult to distinguish among them while completing my section.   I thought your graphics supplemented the written material you presented. I do think your website section is beneficial to healthcare providers as you point out implications for care. I do have a few suggestions for feedback for you that I will list below. 1.      Some graphics were difficult to read due to the size. I suggest making those graphics with writing larger for easier reading for the reader.   The quality of the graphics was great, and I thought they w...
